Computer Literacy Class 1300 Survey

1. What have you learned in this semester?
While taking what I thought would be introduction to computer, I soon figured that this class was not a blow off course. I enjoyed learning more about computers. Before I started this course I considered myself somewhat knowledgeable about computers. I have since mastered Excel, which has helped me advance in my job. Also, the PowerPoint program has helped me become a lot more organized. Possessing the ability to maneuver my way through the internet has proven to be helpful when doing research. I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in keeping up with technology in an attempt to secure gainful employment in the future.

2. What subject or topic did you enjoy the most?
I really enjoyed learning more about Excel. Excel is such a cool program you can relate a lot of information and complete various tasks using this program. The thing I enjoyed most was learning to navigate my way through programs after a lecture. Professor Ayllon is very patient and was always willing to work with each of us individually. I really enjoyed when we had Janet Warren, another COSC instructor come by and give us pointers on a lot of data including Access which was somewhat complex.

3. What is your major? And how would you apply what you’ve learned in your career?
I am pursuing my degree in the paralegal program and this course will enable me in my move forward in my field. This observation is based on the fact that paralegals perform a lot of research using the computer. As I look down the road I see myself using this class as a stepping stone to perhaps establishing my own ecommerce business.

Computer Literacy Class 1300 Survey

1. What have you learned in this semester?
This semester I learned a lot of things. I learned how to build my ideal computer. It was really fun and I discovered that a computer is not as complex as I pictured it to be. I also learned how to use Microsoft Office to its full potential. Before this class I did very basic things in Microsoft office but now I can actually tell someone that does not know about computers how to use some of the software more efficiently. I have also learned about the internet networks. It is really interesting to see how many people can be connected through a computer. It is amazing how you can meet people from around the world through internet. I also learned about search engines. Search engines like Yahoo, Google, and AltaVista are amazing. With these you can find any information you want in the comfort of your sit. I also learned about the negative things about being in a computer too long and the advantages.

2. What subject or topic did you enjoy the most?
I think that the topic I enjoyed the most was using Microsoft Word. In middle school I learned how to use the basic functions of it and I, personally, thought I was a “master” at it, but know I know that I was wrong. Thanks to this class I learned how to make professional type work on my computer. I am sure I will apply these skills in the future.

3. What is your major? And how would you apply what you’ve learned in your career?
I am planning to become a Dentist in the future. And I think, being in an office type environment will make me make use of my computer skills since today’s society requires of it. This will not only make me be a better person but it will show my piers that I am a professional at what I do. I guess I may even use Accesses in the future for my patients in the Dentist office.

So I conclude this survey by saying thank you Mr. Marco for a good fall semester course.

Thank you!

TO: Dr. Marco;

It was a pleasure being guided by you. You allowed me the space to do my thang, but just enough discipline to keep me on track. And I have to admit, I got off track there for a while. A person should never get to relax when working or taking a on-line course. Things and assignments have a way of plying up on you.

If, I have to endure another computer class, I hope you will be my instructor again.

1. What have you learned in this semester?

I learned how to use spread sheet and access. I also learned how to use some common short cuts as well as some practical tips when using programs like word. Most of this information I take back and forth to work which would make task easier for me. Funny thought – I would never understand what a BUS line was – now I know that in layman’s terms, it’s just a connection of computers in a single file line.

2. What subject or topic did you enjoy the most?

Word by far was one of my favorite programs to learn. To me that’s one of the more important programs to learn, and allows you do be creative with your work. If you know word and you know it well enough so that when you publish something… it may give you the wow factor.

3. What is your major? And how would you apply what you’ve learned in your career?
My major is paralegal studies. Although the programs that we use back in the office are limited to Needles and word perfect. Spread sheet allowed me to create a database with my clients name, number, and type of case… for example if it’s a Personal Injury, Product Liability or Premise Liability case. It’s a great tool to have when you have a case load of 100 plus clients.
